Forest Island Project was please to open a special showing of work by past artist-resident Patricia Fernández and artist Ian James to celebrate the release of the pair’s collaborative book, In many valleys, the sun, was the eye of god, from Colpa Press. The exhibition features work developed during Fernandez’s time in Mammoth Lakes tracking the markings left by Basque sheepherders along their routes through the Easter Sierra. Memorializing this disappearing history through sculpture and photography Fernandez offers us an alternative history of the region. Book release, reading and reception, an amazing show - open through July 1.

The show subsequently moved to Jackson Hole where its exhibition opened on February 5, 2019.
