RESIDENCYPROGRAM
The Forest Island Residency is a fellowship program with a month-long onsite residency for artists and other innovative cultural contributors – writers, scientists, comedians, athletes, filmmakers, tech experts, inventors, entrepreneurs, musicians, architects, designers and civic specialists – intended to facilitate conceptual cross-pollination and to bring inspired critical dialogue to the town of Mammoth Lakes.
The program connects participants with the local community through exhibitions and public programming applicable to each sessions' and / or the participants’ area of focus (public presentations, screenings, readings, community projects, etc.).
FI Fellows are currently asked to participate by invitation.
Selection takes place through the advisory board and/or a dedicated session curator.
Fellowships include a month-long Residency period on location in Mammoth Lakes.
Accommodations, Studio-Space and a stipend will be available to each participating Fellow.
The Residency period will be be bracketed by a number of public events including - Meet & Greet presentation and reception, a public Open Studios/Closing Reception/Panel Discussion with other opportunities for engagement throughout.
Exhibitions and culminating programming are specific to each session and its participants.
Partnerships with Mammoth Lakes Foundation and rotating housing / studio space partnerships, along with financial support from the Town of Mammoth Lakes' Measure U help to make this program possible....
